House Republicans are planning to vote on whther or not to remove Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee.<\/p>\n

For some bizarre reason, some Republicans are opposed to this. Hopefully, Steve Scalise and other GOP leaders can convince them to get with the program.<\/p>\n

Do you think Omar or any other member of the \u2018Squad\u2019 would hesitate to take power away from any Republican?<\/p>\n

House GOP plans vote to remove Omar from Foreign Affairs as soon as Wednesday<\/strong><\/p>\n

House Republican leaders are prepared to hold a vote as soon as Wednesday to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) from the Foreign Affairs Committee. <\/p>\n

Plans to move ahead on the vote come after compromise language was included in a resolution to strip her from the panel, causing Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) to drop her opposition to removing Omar from the panel.<\/p>\n

In addition to Spartz, two more House Republicans \u2014 Reps. Nancy Mace (S.C.) and Ken Buck (Colo.) \u2014 had said that they would not support kicking Omar off the committee, creating a math problem for the slim House GOP majority that needs a majority of the whole house to remove Omar from the panel.<\/p>\n

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) said Tuesday night that Democrats still need to formally submit a resolution outlining their picks to populate the Foreign Affairs Committee. But assuming they do that on Tuesday evening or Wednesday, they are ready to bring up the resolution Wednesday, a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Ilhan Omar, at times a lightning rod for House Democrats, is now a unifying force in her party\u2019s quest to frustrate the GOP at every turn.<\/p>\n

The member of the so-called progressive \u201csquad\u201d knew even before starting her third term in Congress that she\u2019d face Republicans\u2019 long-promised threat to remove her from the Foreign Affairs Committee. And the Minnesota lawmaker is seemingly daring them to try.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, in a subtle stiff-arm of a GOP eviction attempt that her party has blamed on politically motivated revenge, her office announced the formation of a \u201cU.S.-Africa Policy Working Group\u201d aimed at fostering dialogue on Africa-related policy. The move carried a fatalistic air, given that the Somali immigrant would become the top Democrat on the Foreign Affairs subpanel overseeing Africa \u2014 if the GOP let her stay.<\/p>\n

The GOP needs to be ruthless on this.<\/p>\n

If the roles were reversed, Democrats wouldn\u2019t think twice.<\/p>\n
