{"id":11952,"date":"2023-04-13T03:41:51","date_gmt":"2023-04-13T03:41:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sasquatchnewsonline.com\/?p=11952"},"modified":"2023-04-13T03:41:51","modified_gmt":"2023-04-13T03:41:51","slug":"another-doj-leak-special-counsel-jack-smith-investigating-trumps-effort-to-raise-money-off-election-fraud-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sasquatchnewsonline.com\/?p=11952","title":{"rendered":"ANOTHER DOJ LEAK: Special Counsel Jack Smith Investigating Trump\u2019s Effort to Raise Money Off Election Fraud Claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another day, another leak.<\/p>\n<p>Special Counsel Jack Smith is now investigating Trump\u2019s effort to raise money off of \u2018false claims of election fraud,\u2019 according to a leak to the Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors are investigating money raised between November 3, 2020 and January 20, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/special-counsel-focuses-on-trump-fundraising-off-false-election-claims\/ar-AA19N1Q8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors probing the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol have in recent weeks sought a wide range of documents related to fundraising after the 2020 election, looking to determine if Trump or his advisers scammed donors by using false claims about voter fraud to raise money, eight people familiar with the new inquiries said.<\/p>\n<p>Special counsel Jack Smith\u2019s office has sent subpoenas in recent weeks to Trump advisers and former campaign aides, Republican operatives and other consultants involved in the 2020 presidential campaign, the people said. They have also heard testimony from some of these figures in front of a Washington grand jury, some of the people said.<\/p>\n<p>The fundraising prong of the investigation is focused on money raised during the period between Nov. 3, 2020, and the end of Trump\u2019s time in office on Jan. 20, 2o21, and prosecutors are said to be interested in whether anyone associated with the fundraising operation violated wire fraud laws, which make it illegal to make false representations over email to swindle people out of money.<\/p>\n<p>The subpoenas seek more specific types of communications so that prosecutors can compare what Trump allies and advisers were telling each other privately about the voter-fraud claims with what they were saying publicly in appeals that generated more than $200 million in donations from conservatives, according to people with knowledge of the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2023\/04\/leak-special-counsel-jack-smith-has-new-and-significant-evidence-of-potential-trump-obstruction-in-mar-a-lago-docs-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leak <\/a>earlier this month, Special Counsel Jack Smith has \u201cnew and significant evidence\u201d of potential Trump obstruction in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case.<\/p>\n<p>The feds seized classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago and thoroughly searched the property after the Justice Department issued Trump a subpoena in May to return so-called classified records.<\/p>\n<p>According to a leak to WaPo, Jack Smith has emails and texts from a former Trump aide showing Trump may have rummaged through his boxes of classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago after he was subpoenaed in May 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s Justice Department has nothing on Trump so they are going to try to get him on \u2018obstruction\u2019 charges.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2023\/04\/leak-special-counsel-jack-smith-investigating-whether-trump-raised-money-off-election-fraud-claims\/\">ANOTHER DOJ LEAK: Special Counsel Jack Smith Investigating Trump\u2019s Effort to Raise Money Off Election Fraud Claims<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/\">The Gateway Pundit<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another day, another leak.
