href=\"https:\/\/kvia.com\/news\/2023\/07\/03\/authorities-speak-about-radioactive-equipment-that-disappeared-in-southern-new-mexico\/\">According to KVIA<\/a>, Juarez Civil Protection Director Roberto Briones said this isn\u2019t the first time his department has issued an alert for missing radioactive materials.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, a cursory overview of news reports on Google suggests Iridium-192 goes missing all the time.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discovermagazine.com\/the-sciences\/5-times-radioactive-items-went-missing\">reported by Discover<\/a> <span>on March 1<\/span>, \u201cit\u2019s scary to think how often these dangerous materials\u201d disappear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPotentially dangerous radioactive material \u201cgoes missing\u201d about<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2023\/feb\/03\/relatively-common-was-lost-and-found-radioactive-capsule-not-the-only-missing-material-around\">\u00a0100 times a year<\/a>\u00a0worldwide,\u201d Discover explained while citing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2023\/feb\/03\/relatively-common-was-lost-and-found-radioactive-capsule-not-the-only-missing-material-around\">February report from The Guardian.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Less than two weeks after the story from Discover, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ans.org\/news\/article-4813\/sealed-source-device-missing-in-houston\/\">Nuclear Newswire reported<\/a> that a radiographic camera, including it\u2019s \u201ciridium-192 radioactive sealed source\u201d went missing in Houston, Texas, <span>on March 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/xlibrary\/assets\/prep_radiological_fact_sheet.pdf\">2004 Department of Homeland Security report<\/a> details the risks associated with a \u201cdirty bomb\u201d made from stolen radioactive materials including Iridium-192.<\/p>\n\n<p>While U.S. Officials have so far failed to comment on the missing iridium in New Mexico, there\u2019s little doubt that serious concern exists behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, messaging hasn\u2019t been great from federal agencies in the United States and the current silence isn\u2019t helping.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile in Mexico, Juarez remains on alert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now there is an alert issued for the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Sonora,\u201d JCP Director Briones <a href=\"https:\/\/kvia.com\/news\/2023\/07\/03\/authorities-speak-about-radioactive-equipment-that-disappeared-in-southern-new-mexico\/\">told KVIA<\/a>, \u201cAuthorities say they do not know when the alert will be removed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2023\/07\/update-after-blowing-up-russian-oil-pipeline-bombing\/\">threat of impending radiological attack in Ukraine<\/a> dominating large swaths of the news cycle, perhaps America should direct more attention to thefts of dirty-bomb component materials near our horrendously porous southern
