The Kevin Spacey trial in London has experienced another star deposition. After two time Academy Award Spacey took the stage in his defense, on Monday a video link was set up for the deposition of musical icon Elton John and husband David Furnish.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s no disputing that Elton John\u2019s version of the events from a decade ago ended up benefitting his friend, whether or not the jury was starstruck.<\/p>\n
The New York Post<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n \u201cThe newly retired singer and his husband, David Furnish, appeared in the London court by video link from Monaco and answered questions about Spacey\u2019s attendance at their White Tie and Tiara Ball, an event the couple hosted for over a decade to raise money to fight AIDS.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n One of Spacey\u2019s accusers \u2013 that can\u2019t be named under UK law \u2013 claims that the star sexually assaulted him while driving to the White Tie and Tiara Ball in either 2004 or 2005.<\/p>\n These claims have been mortally wounded by Elton John\u2019s deposition, as he told the court that Spacey arrived at the event by private jet.<\/p>\n \u201cThe complainant, who was not named, claimed the \u2018House of Cards\u2019 star grabbed his crotch with such strength that he almost crashed his car.<\/em><\/p>\n The alleged victim\u2019s claims, however, were countered by John\u2019s testimony. The singer recalled Spacey flying in to attend the event on a private jet.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Spacey had already denied assaulting the man on the way to the ball, saying, \u2018No, I was not on a suicide mission in any of those years\u2019.<\/p>\n John\u2019s husband David Furnish told the court that Spacey\u2019s attendance was a big deal at the time, and supported the actor\u2019s claims that he had only attended the party once, in 2001.<\/p>\n Photographs showed Spacey was only in attendance that year, John said, as each year they make sure to photograph each guest, and the actor only appears in images from 2001.<\/p>\n Elton John was questioned whether Spacey could have gone and not been pictured.<\/p>\n \u201cIt never happened,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was understood we were promoting a charity involving the eradication of stigma surrounding disease. For celebrities wanting to come to our event, it was always understood they needed to be photographed.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Spacey could face jail if convicted, but has expressed hope for\u00a0a career comeback,\u00a0if acquitted.<\/p>\n Daily Caller<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n \u201c[Elton] <\/em>John gave his testimony to the Southwark Crown Court as part of Spacey\u2019s UK case, which involves 12 charges of sexual\u00a0<\/em>offenses allegedly committed\u00a0against four men between 2001 and 2013 in Britain, according to Reuters. One accuser, a driver, alleged Spacey sexually assaulted him so aggressively on the way to a party John was hosting that he nearly crashed the car,\u00a0according\u00a0to Reuters. John was asked about what he knew about Spacey\u2019s attendance and behavior at this party.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Elton John testified that Spacey ended up staying overnight at his husband David Furnish\u2019s home in Windsor when the party concluded.<\/p>\n \u201cProsecutor Christine Agnew asked John about a photograph from a few years later that showed the complainant standing outside of a London theatre while John was leaving the venue.
