On Tuesday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that 19 students and 2 teachers were killed in a\u00a0mass shooting at Robb Elementary School\u00a0<\/a>in Uvalde, Texas.<\/p>\n 18-year-old Salvador Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday and also shot his grandmother in the face. Senator Roland Gutierrez said the grandmother is still alive but in critical condition.<\/p>\n According to multiple reports, the deranged shooter spent more than 40 minutes inside<\/strong> as loved ones and onlookers begged the police to charge into the building.<\/p>\n Javier Cazares, whose daughter died in the attack, urged the bystanders to\u00a0\u201crush in because the cops aren\u2019t doing anything like they are supposed to. More could have been done. Go in there!\u201d a woman\u00a0shouted to officers<\/a>\u00a0soon after the shooting happened, witness Juan Carranza, 24,\u00a0said. He lives across the street from the school. \u201cThere were more of them. There was just one of him,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Officials say the\u00a0shooter \u201cencountered\u201d a school district security officer<\/a>\u00a0outside the school, though there were conflicting reports from authorities on whether the men exchanged gunfire.<\/p>\n After running inside, the gunman fired on two arriving Uvalde police officers who were outside the building, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Travis Considine. The police officers were injured.<\/p>\n The shooter then went inside a classroom and began killing.<\/p>\n The gunman wasn\u2019t killed for the better part of an hour until a Border Patrol team tactical unit arrived and shot him. Border Patrol agents were in the area because Uvalde is near the Mexican border.<\/p>\n A person who spoke on condition of anonymity said Border Patrol had trouble opening the locked door and a staff member had to get a key.<\/p>\n The Gateway Pundit previously reported<\/a> that the deranged shooter was shot and killed by an off-duty Customs and Border Protection agent from an elite tactical unit (BORTAC) who responded to a law enforcement request and rushed into the school, DHS\u2019 assistant secretary of public affairs, Marsha Espinosa, confirmed on Twitter.<\/p>\n \u201cU.S. Border Patrol Agents responded to a law enforcement request for assistance re an active shooter situation inside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Upon entering the building, Agents & other law enforcement officers faced gunfire from the subject, who was barricaded inside,\u201d Espinosa\u00a0tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to a report from New York Post<\/a>, four of the 80 Border Patrol officers entered the school building and killed Ramos,\u00a0 Customs and Border Protection official confirmed.<\/p>\n US Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz said in a Wednesday interview with CNN that as soon as the Border Patrol officers arrived, \u201cthey didn\u2019t hesitate.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey didn\u2019t hesitate.
