Not a surprising move for a business to pull out of a Democrat-run, lawless trash pile like Portland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNike had sold discounted and out-of-season items at the Northeast neighborhood factory store since 1984.\u201d OPB <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opb.org\/article\/2023\/09\/08\/nike-permanently-closes-northeast-portland-factory-store\/#:~:text=Nike%20permanently%20closes%20long-shuttered%20NE%20Portland%20factory%20store,-By%20Kyra%20Buckley&amp;text=Sept.%208%2C%202023%206%3A,statement%20to%20OPB%20on%20Friday.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Far-left Portland<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2020\/08\/portland-mayor-ted-wheeler-now-begs-criminal-antifa-terrorists-stay-home-trump-wont-use-failed-city-ads-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Mayor Ted Wheeler <\/a>said he was \u201cvery disappointed\u201d Nike permanently shuttered its Portland store.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very disappointed with the closure of the Nike Community Store on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard,\u201d Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opb.org\/article\/2023\/09\/08\/nike-permanently-closes-northeast-portland-factory-store\/#:~:text=Nike%20permanently%20closes%20long-shuttered%20NE%20Portland%20factory%20store,-By%20Kyra%20Buckley&amp;text=Sept.%208%2C%202023%206%3A,statement%20to%20OPB%20on%20Friday.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. \u201cMy team and City Staff have worked tirelessly and in good faith with Nike for almost a year to offer creative solutions to their safety challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/nike-abandons-portland-store-re-opening-amid-theft-safety-issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox Business Reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Nike has reportedly decided not to re-open its factory store in Portland, Oregon, which it closed temporarily last fall due to \u201ctheft and safety issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The neighborhood\u2019s business group, the Soul District Business Association (SBDA), said that Nike had confirmed its decision in a phone call with the group\u2019s leaders, the Portland Business Journal reported on Friday. <\/p>\n<p>The SBDA called the decision \u201ca major economic blow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis news has landed like a lead balloon in our district,\u201d John Washington, the SDBA\u2019s executive director, said in a news release. \u201cWe had all been holding our breath since last November when the store quietly shuttered its doors due to internal and external theft and safety issues. But, like so many of us riding out the fallout of the pandemic and protests, we held out hope that Nike, city officials and community leaders would recalibrate and realign order. But it looks like it\u2019s game over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not to state the obvious, but even with the local reaction being one of disappointment, Portland has been a haven for chaos and violence. This is a city that embraces Antifa, and disorder of any kind.<\/p>\n<p>Nike did say that they are considering future locations for stores that may open up.<\/p>\n<p>Watch:<\/p>\n\n<p>Nike offered to hire off-duty police officers to help secure the store.
