{"id":1955,"date":"2022-06-05T18:39:22","date_gmt":"2022-06-05T18:39:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sasquatchnewsonline.com\/?p=1955"},"modified":"2022-06-05T18:39:22","modified_gmt":"2022-06-05T18:39:22","slug":"retired-judge-zip-tied-and-killed-in-his-wisconsin-home-in-targeted-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sasquatchnewsonline.com\/?p=1955","title":{"rendered":"Retired Judge Zip-Tied and Killed in His Wisconsin Home in Targeted Attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A retired county judge was zip-tied and killed in his Wisconsin home on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul said the shooting death of retired Juneau County Judge John Roemer was a \u201ctargeted act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The suspected gunman, who was identified as Douglas Uhde, 56, had a \u2018hit list\u2019 that included Michigan Governor Whitmer, Senator McConnell and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.<\/p>\n<p>\n<em>Douglas Uhde<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Douglas Uhde was found in the basement of judge Roemer\u2019s home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.<\/p>\n<p>Uhde is in critical condition, feds said.<\/p>\n<p>NBC Chicago <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/national-international\/former-wisconsin-judge-killed-in-targeted-attack-suspect-had-hit-list-that-included-mcconnell-whitmer\/2849818\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>A gunman suspected of fatally shooting a retired county judge at a Wisconsin home had a list that included Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, Whitmer\u2019s office and a law enforcement source said Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Douglas K. Uhde, 56, who has not been charged, is suspected of killing retired Juneau County Judge John Roemer at Roemer\u2019s house in New Lisbon on Friday, the Wisconsin Department of Justice said in a news release Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The gunman was found in the basement of the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, following attempts by police to negotiate with him. He is hospitalized in critical condition, DOJ officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Roemer was found zip-tied to a chair in his home and had been fatally shot, the official said. The official could not discuss details of the investigation publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n<p>Uhde has an extensive criminal and prison record dating back at least two decades, including a case when he was sentenced by Roemer to six years in prison on weapons charges.
