This article originally appeared on WND.com<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Guest by post by Bob Unruh\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n A former employee of a hospital in Newcastle, Wyoming, is charging that the institution\u2019s officials tried to have her involuntarily committed as a mental patient after she had raised questions about the ethics \u2013 and legality \u2013 of some of their actions.<\/p>\n A report in the Cowboy State Daily<\/a> confirms a lawsuit has been filed by Amanda McDade against the Weston County Health Services in federal court.<\/p>\n \u201cShe accuses the hospital of retaliating for voicing her concerns, of threatening to have her involuntarily committed as if she were mentally ill, of causing her anxiety, and of forcing her to resign,\u201d the report explained.<\/p>\n McDade, a human-services employee, worked for the corporation for several years.<\/p>\n Her lawsuit charges, \u201cThe defendant is a governmental entity under the Wyoming Governmental Claims Act. Certainly, the government cannot threaten to strip us of our civil liberty and freedom when their illegality and ethics are called out through the proper process. To silence the voice of those who speak against you and threaten to place them in an involuntary mental health hold, as a government employer, is nothing that should ever occur in the free United States of America.\u201d<\/p>\n The hospital didn\u2019t respond to the publication\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n Her responsibilities included, among other things, employee records, payroll, timekeeping and operations documentation.<\/p>\n The report said the filing charges, \u201cDuring the course of her employment, the plaintiff raised concerns of money mismanagement, illegality, and ethics through the proper chain of command. Instead of this being remedied, plaintiff was retaliated against and subjected to a hostile work environment.\u201d<\/p>\n The document alleges the hospital officials asked her to change records to \u201ccover up,\u201d but she did not, as she considered the instructions \u201cunethical and likely illegal,\u201d the report documents.<\/p>\n Then, abruptly, she found official were trying to have her involuntarily committed as a mental patient.<\/p>\n The news came when a nurse called McDade to set up a meeting with McDade\u2019s own physician, Dr. Sara Thurgood.<\/p>\n \u201cMcDade was puzzled, as she hadn\u2019t made an appointment and had no medication concerns, the complaint states.<\/p>\n When Thurgood arrived, she informed McDade that hospital officials were concerned she was \u201calmost manic,\u201d although the doctor agreed McDade didn\u2019t give that appearance.<\/p>\n \u201cMy biggest concern here is that they are talking about potentially, uhh, I hope that it\u2019s OK I\u2019m telling you this, they\u2019re talking about potentially involuntary commitment,\u201d Thurgood told her.<\/p>\n She said she wouldn\u2019t commit McDade herself.<\/p>\n McDade told the doctor she was \u201cin terror and shock,\u201d and left the hospital, the report said.<\/p>\n \u201cShe legitimately expected the cops to meet her at the door with a straight jacket to see their malicious plan through,\u201d the complaint charges.<\/p>\n She later emailed a resignation.<\/p>\n Thurgood told the Cowboy State Daily she was a pawn in the scheme, and didn\u2019t know what money mismanagement concerns McDade had raised, but hospital officials had asked for her to pursue commitment of McDade.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt extremely uncomfortable by what I was asked to do. They were wanting me to declare her either a danger to herself or other people \u2013 that\u2019s what you have to do to Title 25 someone.
