The New York Times has made a correction to an article about Hunter Biden after an outcry emerged at the initial published version.<\/p>\n
The article is now tagged<\/a> with a correction<\/a> that the Times said was made on Wednesday, the same day as its publication.<\/p>\n \u201cAn earlier version of this article misquoted Hunter Biden. He said, \u2018My father was not financially involved in my business,\u2019 not, \u2018My father was not involved in my business,\u2019\u201d the correction read.<\/p>\n The full quote now reads: \u201cLet me state as clearly as I can: My father was not financially involved in my business \u2014 not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of Burisma, not my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad and certainly not as an artist.\u201d<\/p>\n Wow.<\/p>\n The New York Times doctored an exact quote from Hunter Biden to downplay Joe Biden\u2019s involvement in his business.<\/p>\n We asked the @nytimes<\/a> why it lied. Jim Jordan of Ohio, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee and member of the House Oversight Committee.<\/p>\n Jordan<\/a> said the use of the word \u201cfinancially\u201d was a \u201chuge change\u201d compared to previous statements made by President Biden and the White House on the subject.<\/p>\n \u201cWhich means, sort of means, he\u2019s involved. I think that\u2019s how anyone with common sense would read it. [Joe Biden\u2019s] been involved, just not financially,\u201d Jordan argued. \u201cThat is a huge departure from everything they have said now for the last three-and-a-half years.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis statement today, I think, is the biggest news of the morning,\u201d Jordan said.<\/p>\n Hunter Biden now faces charges over his taxes, owning a gun while lying about his use of drugs, and stiffing Congress by not complying with a subpoena.<\/p>\n Rep. @ByronDonalds<\/a> confirms Joe Biden will most likely pardon Hunter:<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re going to slow walk this entire trial and then in the lame duck session of congress, after Joe Biden loses the White House to Donald Trump, I think he is going to go ahead and pardon his son.\u201d pic.twitter.com\/7dOKyLfKtO<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) December 14, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n\n NBC<\/a> indicated that the subject of the president pardoning his son is getting a growing level of buzz in official circles.<\/p>\n Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee proposed a constitutional amendment to bar presidents from pardoning themselves or family members. It has received little traction.<\/p>\n \u201cI wouldn\u2019t recommend it politically,\u201d Cohen said addressing Biden\u2019s potential pardon of his son. \u201cIt is within his power, and he loves his son, so, what are you going to do? I suspect he could.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been very clear; the president is not going to pardon his son,\u201d White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre<\/a> said last week.<\/p>\n Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren<\/a> of Massachusetts said a pardon should be off the boards.<\/p>\n \u201cPardons should not be used for personal purposes,\u201d she said. \u201cThey should only be used in the interest of the United States public.\u201d<\/p>\n Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly, of Virginia agreed.<\/p>\n \u201cI believe the pardon power in the Constitution was provided for extraordinary circumstances, with assuming unstated mitigating circumstances,\u201d Connolly said. \u201cIt was not provided to provide relief for family members.
