Users on X were quick to remind Swalwell he might want to stay quiet on the issue based on his connection to a Chinese spy.<\/p>\n

In what is now a well-known story, Swalwell was allegedly honey-potted by a Chinese spy<\/a> named Christine Fang, or Fang Fang, from 2011-2015.<\/p>\n

During this time, Fang Fang \u201ctook part in fundraising activity for Swalwell\u2019s 2014 re-election campaign\u201d and helped place at least one intern into Swalwell\u2019s office, as reported by Axios<\/a> in December 2020.<\/p>\n

In 2015, Swalwell received a \u201cdefensive briefing\u201d from counterintelligence officials to alert him that Fang Fang potentially being a Chinese spy. The California US Representative quickly cut ties. That same year, Fang Fang reportedly fled the country.<\/p>\n
