Lara Trump, daughter-in-law to President-elect Donald Trump, announced her resignation as Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The announcement comes amidst growing speculation that she may be eyeing a run for Florida\u2019s soon-to-be-vacant Senate seat, currently held by Senator Marco Rubio, who is poised to serve as Secretary of State in the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

In a heartfelt social media post, Lara Trump reflected on her tenure with the RNC, emphasizing the accomplishments achieved under her leadership during what she described as \u201cthe most consequential election in American history.\u201d<\/p>\n

She expressed gratitude to the RNC team and her father-in-law, President Donald Trump, for trusting her with such a pivotal role.<\/p>\n

Her statement concluded with the announcement that she would formally step down at the next RNC meeting.<\/p>\n

She wrote:<\/p>\n

\u201cServing as the GOP co-chair throughout the course of the most consequential election in American history has truly been the honor of my life.<\/p>\n

At the RNC, we had three distinct goals:<\/p>\n

1) surpass all fundraising records<\/p>\n

2) build the largest army of lawyers and poll watchers to ensure election integrity<\/p>\n

and, 3) turn out millions of Americans and low prepencity voters during early voting.<\/p>\n

We accomplished all three.<\/p>\n

The job I came to do is now complete and I intend to formally step down from the RNC at our next meeting.<\/p>\n

Thank you to our incredible team at the RNC, our amazing Chairman Whatley, and, of course, thank you to President Donald Trump \u2014 we are so proud of you and I\u2019m grateful you trusted me in this position.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Lara Trump\u2019s resignation has only fueled rumors that she is eyeing the Senate seat that will be vacated by Senator Marco Rubio, who has been tapped by President-elect Trump to serve as Secretary of State.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the AP<\/a>, Lara Trump confirmed she is giving the opportunity serious consideration.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is something I would seriously consider,\u201d she told AP in an interview. \u201cIf I\u2019m being completely transparent, I don\u2019t know exactly what that would look like. And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that\u2019s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Appearing on Fox News<\/a> on Sunday with Howard Kurtz, Lara Trump addressed the political opportunities tied to her family name, acknowledging both its advantages and challenges.<\/p>\n

Howard:<\/strong> Ron DeSantis is going to appoint a senator to fill the vacancy in Florida left by Marco Rubio. Is it an asset being a Trump?<\/p>\n

Lara Trump:<\/strong> Well, some may say it\u2019s an asset, some may say it\u2019s not an asset. I think it depends on how you look at it. Certainly, you know, we\u2019ve all had the opportunity over the past nine years to fully involve ourselves in politics, to understand the American people and what they want. And we\u2019ve all been residents of the state of Florida now for over three years. If that\u2019s something that\u2019s put in front of me, it would be a true honor.<\/p>\n

But, yeah, look, I think probably my last name does heighten my political profile a little bit. But I\u2019ve got a proven track record. I\u2019ve been co-chair of the RNC during the most consequential election of our lifetime. We were so proud of what we did at the RNC\u2014making sure there was election integrity, getting the early vote out, turning out low-propensity voters, and raising huge amounts of money.<\/p>\n

So I would say that my track record speaks for itself. Maybe having the last name Trump is just a little bit extra. I\u2019m always happy to have it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
