The US Supreme Court will not stop Judge Merchan from sentencing Trump after a New York Appeals court earlier this week denied Trump\u2019s request to delay Friday\u2019s sentencing.<\/p>\n

Five Justices denied Trump\u2019s bid to stop Judge Merchan\u2019s sentencing. The four conservative justices would have approved Trump\u2019s application to delay the sentencing.<\/p>\n

\u201cJustices Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch would have granted Trump\u2019s application for a postponement of sentencing, the majority wrote,\u201d CBS News reported.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court rejected a last-ditch effort by lawyers for President-elect Donald Trump to forestall his sentencing for his New York criminal conviction.<\/p>\n

The five justice majority that voted to deny Trump\u2019s application wrote that the evidentiary issues Trump has complained about \u201ccan be addressed in the ordinary course on appeal.\u201d <\/p>\n

They also noted that the judge overseeing Trump\u2019s New York case has signaled he will not sentence Trump to serve any time in jail, writing \u201cthe burden that sentencing will impose on the President-Elect\u2019s responsibilities is relatively insubstantial in light of the trial court\u2019s stated intent to impose a sentence of \u2018unconditional discharge\u2019 after a brief virtual hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

President Trump on Wednesday asked the Supreme Court to intervene. Justice Sotomayor asked the high court to respond by Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

On Thursday morning prosecutors told the Supreme Court to allow the sentencing to continue Friday morning as scheduled.<\/p>\n

Last week crooked Judge Juan Merchan\u00a0ordered\u00a0<\/a>Trump to be sentenced in Bragg\u2019s hush money case related to Trump\u2019s payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.<\/p>\n

In May, Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts after he was accused of paying porn star Stormy Daniels, AKA, Stephanie Clifford, \u2018hush payments\u2019 through his then-attorney Michael Cohen in a scheme to silence her and stop the story about their alleged affair from being published in the National Enquirer.<\/p>\n

Judge Merchan is not going to sentence Trump to any prison time and will allow Trump to appear virtually. <\/p>\n
