Senator Dick Durbin is going all out to try and derail the nomination of Kash Patel as director of the FBI.<\/p>\n

In letters<\/a> to the Justice Department, Department of Defense and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Durbin accuses Patel of working to undermine the transition process between Donald Trump and Joe Biden following the widespread fraud that tainted the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n

He wrote:<\/p>\n

Mr. Patel was appointed Chief of Staff [for the Secretary of Defense] on November 10, 2020, after then-President Trump lost the 2020 election.<\/p>\n

During his tenure, Mr. Patel was accused of impeding the incoming Biden Administration\u2019s transition work with the Defense Department, injecting himself and another political appointee into processes normally handled by nonpartisan career civilian and military officials, and ignoring requests from the Biden Administration\u2019s transition.<\/p>\n

\u2026<\/p>\n

As you know, the FBI is the principal federal law enforcement investigative agency, tasked with protecting all Americans.<\/p>\n

The Director must be able to execute the FBI\u2019s mission in a nonpartisan, impartial manner that is above reproach.<\/span><\/p>\n

The credible allegations against Mr. Patel outlined above are deeply troubling, and the Committee is unable to properly consider his nomination without more information on his underlying conduct.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Lawmakers such as Durbin are particularly troubled by Patel\u2019s nomination because of his longstanding record<\/a> of working to hold Democrats and deep state actors accountable for their countless crimes and misdemeanors.<\/p>\n

Such is Durbin\u2019s concern that he even brought up Patel\u2019s name during the confirmation hearing for Pam Bondi, who is Trump\u2019s nominee for Attorney General and asked her about his supposed support for the QAnon conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to hearing his testimony about QAnon in front of this committee,\u201d Bondi replied.<\/p>\n

Among Patel\u2019s most notable achievements involved exposing the Russiagate hoax when he spearheaded the House Intelligence Committee\u2019s investigation<\/a> into the Hillary Clinton-funded Steele dossier aimed at discrediting the Trump presidency before he even took office.<\/p>\n

\u201cKash is proud of his service at the DOJ, DOD, and DNI, and looks forward to answering any of Senator Durbin\u2019s questions at his confirmation hearing,\u201d said Alex Pfeiffer, a Trump spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Patel\u2019s confirmation hearing is scheduled to take place after Donald Trump is inaugurated next week.<\/p>\n

However, a specific date has yet to be publicly announced.<\/p>\n
