Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) had harsh criticism for taxpayers funding \u201cpublic\u201d leftist propaganda outlets such as National Public Radio, the Corporation Public Broadcasting, and the Public Broadcasting System.<\/p>\n

Kennedy called the scheme more just a \u201cgravy train\u201d but a \u201cgravy train with biscuit wheels.\u201d<\/p>\n

In November, video footage of NPR CEO Katherine Maher<\/a> from an August 2021 Ted Talk reappeared on X, sparking new debate over the taxpayer-funded broadcaster\u2019s alleged bias.<\/p>\n

In the 10-second clip, Maher questioned the role truth plays in the industry as the then-CEO of Wikimedia. She took over as CEO of NPR in March 2024.<\/p>\n

Maher told the crowd, \u201cI think our reverence for the truth might have become a bit of a distraction that is preventing us from finding consensus and getting important things done.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elon Musk weighed in on the video asking if taxpayer funds should be used for an organization headed by someone who thinks the truth is a \u201cdistraction.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Kennedy said, \u201cIn calling for the defunding of President Trump\u2019s Department of Government Efficiency is looking for fat to trim. As far as I\u2019m concerned, this gravy train \u2013 this gravy train with biscuit wheels called the Corporation for Public Broadcasting \u2013 is the perfect example of a project the American people no longer need and should not fund.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kennedy provided examples of the leftist ideology inserted regularly into the \u201cnews reporting activity\u201d of the organizations.<\/p>\n

\u201cEating less beef is a climate solution.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNice white people can still be complicit in a racist society.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cScientists debunk lab accident theory of pandemic emergence.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m all for this, if that\u2019s what these outlets want to do,\u2019 he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, I\u2019m not for taking $500 million every single year and giving it to these stations (CPB) to the exclusion of everybody else. That\u2019s immoral.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cWe are running $36 trillion in debt. This is disgraceful in 2025. It is disgraceful whether it is left-of-center opinion journalism or right-of-center opinion journalism. It is disgraceful to the American people to have to fund this rot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean the rot doesn\u2019t have a right to exist, but they don\u2019t have a right to taxpayer money.\u201d<\/p>\n
