{"id":48238,"date":"2025-05-28T13:40:22","date_gmt":"2025-05-28T13:40:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sasquatchnewsonline.com\/?p=48238"},"modified":"2025-05-28T13:40:22","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T13:40:22","slug":"doj-sues-north-carolina-state-board-of-elections-over-massive-voter-registration-failures-200000-voters-potentially-registered-illegally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sasquatchnewsonline.com\/?p=48238","title":{"rendered":"DOJ Sues North Carolina State Board of Elections Over Massive Voter Registration Failures \u2014 200,000+ Voters Potentially Registered Illegally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"336\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/absentee-ballot-1200x630.jpg?resize=640%2C336&#038;ssl=1\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"423\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/absentee-ballot.jpg?resize=640%2C423&#038;ssl=1\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"210\" data-end=\"510\">The United States Department of Justice has officially taken legal action against the North Carolina State Board of Elections for failing to follow federal election law, exposing what could be one of the largest voter registration scandals in recent history.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"512\" data-end=\"803\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/crt\/media\/1401636\/dl\">complaint<\/a>, over 200,000 individuals may be listed in North Carolina\u2019s voter rolls without proper identification or legal registration, violating the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) \u2014 a federal law designed to ensure clean, accurate, and secure voter rolls in all 50 states.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"805\" data-end=\"1110\">This legal firestorm comes on the heels of President Trump\u2019s March executive order aimed at preserving the integrity of America\u2019s elections.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tgp-post-inline-1\">\n<div class=\"adcovery-postinline-01\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"805\" data-end=\"1110\">That order, Executive Order 14248, directed federal agencies to investigate and enforce laws guarding against illegal voting, fraud, and administrative failure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1484\">The DOJ\u2019s 19-page complaint names the entire North Carolina State Board of Elections \u2014 including board members Francis X. De Luca, Jeff Carmon, Stacy Eggers IV, Siobhan O\u2019Duffy Millen, and Robert Rucho \u2014 as well as Executive Director Sam Hayes, for refusing to enforce basic ID verification for voters.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1825\">The lawsuit alleges the state knowingly used a voter registration form that <em data-start=\"1564\" data-end=\"1598\">made critical ID fields optional<\/em> \u2014 a direct violation of federal law. Voters were allowed to register <em data-start=\"1670\" data-end=\"1679\">without<\/em> a valid driver\u2019s license, without the last four digits of a Social Security number, and without any unique identifier \u2014 all mandatory under HAVA.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1827\" data-end=\"2115\">Even worse, internal admissions from board officials during a November 2023 hearing reveal they knew about the problem and chose not to fix it, opting instead to \u201crevamp the form later.\u201d In other words \u2014 they let potentially ineligible voters flood the rolls before the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1827\" data-end=\"2115\">\u201cAccurate voter registration rolls are critical to ensure that elections in North Carolina are conducted fairly, accurately, and without fraud,\u201d said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K.
