Tesla CEO Elon Musk<\/a> announced on X on Wednesday that his time as a \u201cspecial government employee\u201d has ended.<\/p>\n

Musk, the face of the Department of Government Efficiency, was hired as a special government employee (SGE) to advise the Trump administration on cutting costs and combating fraudulent spending in the U.S. government.<\/p>\n

Musk in his post stated, \u201cAs my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cDOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elon Musk has said he is stepping down from the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

The billionaire thanked US President Donald Trump \u2013 and said he was stepping down as his \u201cscheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Tesla owner \u2013 who led the Department of Government Efficiency \u2013 said he was thankful \u201cfor the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government,\u201d Musk wrote on X.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The move by Musk is not so surprising, considering he previously announced his time at DOGE was only meant to be temporary.<\/p>\n

After making the announcement, Musk\u2019s replies were flooded with thousands of people thanking him for his time at DOGE.<\/p>\n
