Matt Schlapp opens CPAC Budapest 2025<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The fourth CPAC Budapest<\/a> opened today with speeches by director Matt Schlapp, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n, and the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze. US speakers include Rep. Abe Hamedeh, New York Young Republicans head Gavin Wax, Trump attorney John Eastman and YouTubers Ben Shapiro, Michael Knowles, Dave Rubin, and Jack Posobiec.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

International stars set to speak in the next two days include Dutch Freedom Party Leader Geert Wilders, German AfD party head Alice Weidel, former British PM Liz Truss, former Australian PM Tony Abbott, Slovak PM Robert Fico, the head of the Spanish Vox party Santiago Abascal, the head of the Austrian Freedom party Herbert Kickl, and Dutch influencer Eva Vlaardingeerbroek.<\/p>\n

The event began with a prayer and the singing of the Hungarian and US national anthems<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In his opening speech, organizer Miklos Szantho praised President Donald Trump for \u201chaving Hungary\u2019s back\u201d and criticized the \u201cglobalists in Brussels\u201d who want to cut Hungary\u2019s funding. \u201cWe think the EU should stand for peace, and not for letting countries in that will cause war.\u201d Szantho announced the dawn of an \u201cAge of Patriots\u201d, the motto of this year\u2019s CPAC Budapest.<\/p>\n

CPAC and Donald Trump had normalized an idea started by Hungarian PM Viktor Orb\u00e1n, host Matt Schlapp of the American Conservative Union said: \u201cThat a country needs secure borders. Before Trump, we were told that was racist.\u201d<\/p>\n

After \u201cfour years of Joe Biden, two wars and a broken economy\u201d, Schlapp had asked Trump why he wanted to run for President again. Trump was convinced \u201cwe won\u2019t have a country\u201d if he didn\u2019t run again, Schlapp said.<\/p>\n

After Trump\u2019s victory, \u201cthere\u2019s a new breeze blowing\u201d, Schlapp told Orb\u00e1n. \u201cThis time, that breeze is at our backs.\u201d There is a new generation of conservative leaders now, including Argentine President Javier Milei and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, Schlapp said, who are subject to constant attacks, \u201cand our job is to have their backs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Georgian PM Irakli Kobakhidze said that \u201cGeorgia has faced enormous pressure to turn our country into a battlefield again\u201d since the start of the Ukraine war. But \u201cGeorgia will always stand for peace,\u201d Kobakhidze said. What Americans call the \u201cDeep State,\u201d Georgians call the \u201cGlobal War Agenda\u201d. \u201cI hope that President Trump will successfully weaken the Deep State,\u201d\u00a0 Kobakhidze said.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump sent a video message to CPAC Budapest.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cLast year, standing on this stage, I said that Donald Trump will win the US elections. Hungarian PM Viktor Orb\u00e1n said. \u201cNext year we have elections in Hungary. Any questions?\u201d he joked to audience applause.<\/p>\n

Conservatives routinely have to weather attacks that would send liberals running to hide in tears, Orb\u00e1n said. Orb\u00e1n praised Georgian PM Irakli Kobakhidze for creating the strongest economic growth in Europe, \u201cwith 20% of his country under the boot of the Russian bear,\u201d praising Kobakhidze for not letting his country get dragged into the Ukraine war.<\/p>\n

Orb\u00e1n also praised\u00a0 Slovak PM Robert Fico, for \u201ctaking 5 bullets, and still he\u2019s here as if nothing happened.\u201d Orb\u00e1n lauded former Czech PM Andrej Babis for closing the borders of his country and hailed Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki: \u201cWhat Brussels is doing with the PiS party is unprecedented.\u201d<\/p>\n

Orb\u00e1n greeted German AfD head Alice Weidel, saying, \u201cit is good to see there are Germans who love their country more than Brussels.\u201d If there were justice, Herbert Kickl would be Prime Minister of Austria now, Orb\u00e1n told the Austrian Freedom Party leader whose party came in first in national elections in \u2018October 2024 but was excluded from the ruling coalition. Orb\u00e1n called Dutch Freedom Party head Geert Wilders \u201ca Dutch hero who has to be protected by body guards and whose life is threatened. We are happy to have you here with us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDonald Trump has won and is restoring hope to the world,\u201d Orb\u00e1n said, calling it \u201cthe best comeback in the history of the Western world. What a slap in the face for leftists: Not only did he win, but he is doing what he promised.\u201d Trump has closed the borders, abolished the transgender agenda and left the Soros organization \u201cnaked\u201d, Orb\u00e1n said. \u201cThe Emperor is now naked. It is like a dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n

The American dream had come true, Orb\u00e1n said, \u201cbut what about the European dream?\u201d The EU used to be an organization of sovereign nations, Orb\u00e1n said. \u201cEuropean people do not feel safe in their streets anymore. This is organized population exchange. The Green Deal is killing our economies. And now that we have a heavyweight leader to negotiate tariffs with in the US, it turns out we only have featherweight leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative leaders like Marine LePen and Matteo Salvini are being dragged into court and tried, Orb\u00e1n said, while the AfD is being pursued in\u00a0 Germany. Brussels is dragging Europe into war, and wants to centralized the EU and put the European economy on a war footing, Orb\u00e1n said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the problem with Hungary: we are a free race. We don\u2019t want central control and don\u2019t want our money to be channeled into war. We want to give the people back freedom of thought and speech. We want a nation without fear. This is the Patriotic project. This war will have to be won at home and then in Brussels. We need to join forces for this united battle. Then we can start to re-occupy Brussels. For this we need the United States and the support of Donald Trump. The task is not complicated. We just need to win. And we will make Europe Great again.\u201d<\/p>\n
