The stunning accusation came after Newsom went full meltdown mode on Friday, threatening to withhold tens of billions of dollars in federal taxes from Washington, D.C. \u2014 after reports surfaced that President Donald Trump is preparing to cut federal funding to the far-left state over its radical policies and out-of-control universities.<\/p>\n
Newsom\u2019s tantrum comes after\u00a0CNN<\/a>\u00a0reported that the Trump administration is planning a \u201cfull termination\u201d of federal grants to California\u2019s bloated university systems, specifically the University of California and California State University, in response to the institutions\u2019 failure to combat rampant anti-American and antisemitic activity on their campuses.<\/p>\n
\u201cCalifornians pay the bills for the federal government. We pay over $80 BILLION more in taxes than we get back. Maybe it\u2019s time to cut that off, @realDonaldTrump,\u201d Newsom wrote on X.<\/p>\n
The radical idea would amount to an open rebellion against the U.S. Treasury, potentially placing businesses and payroll officials in direct violation of federal tax laws.<\/p>\n
