CNN data analyst Harry Enten revealed some numbers yesterday that are going to blow the minds of Democrats.<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s approval rating on the issue of immigration has \u2018gone up like a rocket\u2019 according to Enten, who points out where Trump was on this issue ten years ago as compared to now. It\u2019s like night and day.<\/p>\n
He also notes that it\u2019s not just Trump. Republicans in general are far more trusted by the public on this issue.<\/p>\n
Partial transcript via Real Clear Politics:<\/a><\/p>\n HARRY ENTEN, CNN CHIEF DATA ANALYST:<\/strong> Yes, you know, if we just take a look at the baseline numbers here, this is Trump\u2019s net approval rating on immigration. It\u2019s gone up like a rocket compared now versus eight years ago during Trump\u2019s first term.<\/p>\n Look at this. In his first term, Trump was way, way, way under water at minus 21 points. But look at this. He\u2019s up over 20 points now in the aggregate.<\/p>\n He is in positive territory at plus one point on his net approval rating. Some other polls even have it a little bit higher than that. There is no issue on which Trump is doing so much better than he was in his first term, more than the issue of immigration.<\/p>\n No wonder The Times has written up the way that he is. Trump is begging for a fight on this because he knows what he\u2019s doing so far is working with the American electorate.<\/p>\n BERMAN:<\/strong> Where does immigration rank on issues for him? How is he doing compared to others?<\/p>\n ENTEN:<\/strong> Yes, so I think what\u2019s so important is it is his top issue so far. And the reason it is his top issue is because take a look at the individual nuggets in here.<\/p>\n Why are people approving of Trump on immigration, approve of these different immigration actions? Well, Trump\u2019s administration\u2019s program to deport those here illegally. Look at this, 54 percent approval.<\/p>\n How about agents searching your hometown for those that they think are here illegally? Again, positive territory here above 50 percent for Donald Trump. So it\u2019s not just on the broad issue of immigration where Trump is doing well.
