A group of detained illegal aliens at a South Florida immigration facility, dubbed \u201cAlligator Alcatraz,\u201d have entered the tenth day of a so-called \u201chunger strike.\u201d<\/p>\n

These detainees, many with criminal backgrounds, are whining about \u201cinhumane\u201d conditions while refusing food, all in a bid to game the system and avoid rightful deportation.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the real outrage: Radical Democrats are using this manufactured crisis to bash President Trump\u2019s tough-on-crime policies, even as the Biden-Harris regime\u2019s open borders fiasco floods our communities with lawbreakers!<\/p>\n

At the center of this leftist-fueled drama is Pedro Hern\u00e1ndez, a Cuban national who came into the U.S. back in 2006 and was finally nabbed during a routine ICE check-in in Miramar this July.<\/p>\n

Hern\u00e1ndez, who admits to a prison stint in his past, was briefly hospitalized during the strike but stubbornly continues to reject food.<\/p>\n

His wife, Daimarys Hern\u00e1ndez, is playing the sympathy card hard, telling NBC6<\/a>, \u201cMy husband was in prison. We make mistakes, but we learn from them and fix things.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a recorded phone call from inside the facility, Hern\u00e1ndez told the news outlet: \u201cWe\u2019ve all been hungry since Tuesday. I\u2019m not going to eat another plate of food until they show us respect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other inmates say they have faced poor sanitation and other brutal conditions inside the facility, which sits in the middle of a sweltering swamp.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey only brought a meal once a day and it has maggots,\u201d Leamsy \u201cLa Figura\u201d Izquierdo, a Cuban artist who was housed at the facility,\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0CBS News. \u201cThey never take of the lights for 24 hours. The mosquitoes are as big as elephants.\u201d<\/p>\n

The facility is facing\u00a0lawsuits<\/a>\u00a0on environmental and civil rights grounds, with lawyers accusing officials of largely barring them from being able to speak with detainees.<\/p>\n

Deportation flights<\/a>\u00a0for detainees held at the facility have begun, state officials announced last week.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Florida news outlets found that among those held at Alligator Alcatraz, only\u00a0about one-third had a past criminal record<\/a>, despite officials touting the prison as being designed to hold the worst of the worst.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Last month, state officials pushed back against the detainees\u2019 claims, calling them \u201ccompletely false.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reporting on the conditions in the facility is completely false. The facility meets all required standards and is in good working order,\u201d said Stephanie Hartman, director of communications for the Florida Division of Emergency Management.<\/p>\n
