Journalists should know by now that questioning President Trump about presidential election history is never wise. CNBC learned the hard way and was left humiliated afterward.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Trump did a phone interview <\/a> with CNBC\u2019s \u2018Squawk Box\u201d to discuss a variety of political issues, including redistricting, the jobs numbers, and who could replace Jerome \u201cToo Late\u201d Powell as Federal Reserve Chairman. But amid the seriousness, the hosts of CNBC created some unintentional comic relief when they questioned Trump\u2019s claim that he won the most votes in Texas history.<\/p>\n

In the 2024 Presidential election, Trump crushed Kamala Harris in the Lone Star State by almost 14 percentage points while flipping several heavily Hispanic counties along the border. In the process, he shattered the record for most total votes in Texas history with 6,393,597<\/a>, surpassing his old record by half a million.<\/p>\n

\u201cSquawk Box\u201d co-host Joe Kernan later came back and had to admit the obvious truth: Trump was right.<\/p>\n

But when Kernan tried to justify the hosts\u2019 previous skepticism, the President promptly shut him down.<\/p>\n

Kernan then quickly moved on to another topic.<\/p>\n

LMAO! President Trump \u201cclaimed\u201d he got the most amount of votes in Texas history\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026the CNBC host said \u201cwe need to fact check you on that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then he came back: \u201cSo, you DID get the highest number of votes in Texas. So, that\u2019s true. Moving on.\u201d<\/p>\n

KERNAN (scoffing): I gotta say this\u2026<\/p>\n

TRUMP: No, don\u2019t say anything more. You don\u2019t have to qualify it by saying\u2026I got the highest number of votes in the history of Texas!<\/p>\n

KERNAN: You did! I\u2019m moving on! I\u2019m moving on!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
