The University of Scranton, a Jesuit-run \u201cCatholic\u201d University in Pennsylvania, announced the hiring of pro-abortion former\u00a0Senator Bob Casey Jr. (D-PA) as a \u201cDistinguished Fellow in Public Service.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pennsylvania Capital Star<\/a> notes, \u201cIn this part-time position, Casey will be take on responsibilities such as being able to mentor and guide students interested in pursuing careers in public service, advise the Center for Ethics and Excellence in Public Service on program initiatives and share expertise with regional government entities through its outreach programs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCasey will also be a resource for the campus and the broader community, the university said, on health care, aging, ethics, government accountability and public service issues through lectures and seminars.\u201d<\/p>\n

During his tenure in DC, Casey became what Politico described as<\/a> \u201can increasingly reliable vote in support of abortion rights \u2014 scoring as high as 100 percent on NARAL Pro-Choice America\u2019s vote tally in 2016 and 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n

It would be laughable if it wasn\u2019t so sad. My alma mater (Class of 1981), the Jesuit-run University of Scranton, announced that it has hired former Pennsylvania Democratic Senator Robert P. Casey Jr., as a Distinguished Fellow in Public Service.<\/p>\n

University President Joseph G. Marina, S.J., expressed his happiness \u201cto have the senator joining us here at Scranton.\u201d Casey, he said, is \u201cperfect\u201d for the role of \u201cforming men and women to be agents of social change.\u201d Perhaps Casey will enlighten students on his Catholic intellectual and philosophical journey from pro-life politician to pro-abortion politico.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Sempa further questioned why a Catholic university would place a pro-abortion advocate in a role mentoring students.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Casey Jr. apparently betrayed his pro-life position and abandoned the pro-life cause for political reasons \u2014 forgetting the words of St. Thomas More in the movie A Man for All Seasons that \u201cit profits a man nothing to gain the whole world if he should lose his soul\u201d \u2014 what is the University of Scranton\u2019s excuse?\u201d<\/p>\n
