Trump puts European officials and others on blast.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Donald J. Trump administration is mulling a US \u2018travel ban\u2019 for the European Union officials that are responsible for the bloc\u2019s Digital Services Act, as well as considering \u2018additional tariffs\u2019 on countries with similar laws, which Trump says \u2018discriminate against American companies\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Telegraph<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe State Department is considering placing sanctions which may come in the form of visa restrictions on those behind the legislation as the US government continues to fight against what it sees as an attempt to silence conservative voices.<\/em><\/p>\n

US officials held a meeting on the issue last week and are yet to make a decision on whether to press ahead with the sanctions.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that Digital Taxes, Digital Services Legislation, and Digital Markets Regulations \u2018are all designed to harm, or discriminate against, American Technology\u2019.<\/p>\n

Digital Taxes, Digital Services Legislation, and Digital Markets Regulations are all designed to harm, or discriminate against, American Technology. They also, outrageously, give a complete pass to China\u2019s largest Tech Companies. <\/em><\/p>\n

This must end, and end NOW! With this TRUTH, I put all Countries with Digital Taxes, Legislation, Rules, or Regulations, on notice that unless these discriminatory actions are removed, I, as President of the United States, will impose substantial additional Tariffs on that Country\u2019s Exports to the U.S.A., and institute Export restrictions on our Highly Protected Technology and Chips. America, and American Technology Companies, are neither the \u201cpiggy bank\u201d nor the \u201cdoormat\u201d of the World any longer. Show respect to America and our amazing Tech Companies or, consider the consequences! Thank you for your attention to this matter.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The US has reportedly directed its diplomats in Europe to launch a lobbying campaign to oppose the Digital Services Act.<\/p>\n

\u201cUS Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously threatened visa bans for people who \u2018censor\u2019 speech by Americans, including on social media, and suggested the policy could target foreign officials regulating US tech companies.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The UK Labour Government is also under fire for the \u2018Online Safety Act\u2019, seen as \u2018Orwellian\u2019.<\/p>\n

During his visit to Scotland last month, Trump heard British Prime Minister Keir Starmer defended the bill, and insist that the UK would protect free speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt comes as Nigel Farage prepares to tell [imprisoned for a tweet] Lucy Connolly\u2019s story when he testifies to members of Congress in September about threats to freedom of expression in Britain.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
