A young refugee suffered a cruel and ironic fate after escaping from war-torn Ukraine to the United States of America.<\/p>\n

As The New York Post reported<\/a>, 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was brutally murdered by a low-life thug in Charlotte, North Carolina, who had no business walking free to begin with. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department revealed Zarutska suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the East\/West Boulevard light rail station at 10 P.M. ET Friday.<\/p>\n

Police have not confirmed whether the stabbing took place on the train, platform, or nearby, according to the Charlotte Observer.<\/p>\n

Zarutska had recently arrived in America seeking safety and a new lease on life as Russia continues to bombard her homeland. <\/p>\n

Police identified <\/a>34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr. as the person responsible for Zarutska\u2019s death. He has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.<\/p>\n

Brown, Jr. is a career criminal and is currently homeless. The Post obtained<\/a> court records showing he has been arrested multiple times for various crimes since 2011.<\/p>\n

His arrests included: felony larceny, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and communicating threats. WSOC-TV reveals Brown Jr. served five years in prison for the robbery with a deadly weapon charge.<\/p>\n

For some reason, though, the other charges were dropped. But he is still facing charges for allegedly misusing a 911 system.<\/p>\n

An affidavit obtained <\/a>by the Charlotte Observer suggests that Brown Jr. suffers from mental health issues. In the affidavit, he claimed someone gave him a \u201cman-made\u201d material that controlled his life, especially when he ate, walked, and talked.<\/p>\n

Officers arrived and told Brown Jr. that he was experiencing a medical issue and that they could do nothing to assist him. He was later arrested after calling 911 to complain.<\/p>\n

Police have not yet revealed why Brown Jr. stabbed Zarutska. The investigation remains ongoing. <\/p>\n

A GoFundMe<\/a> page has been set up by Zarutska\u2019s aunt to help her niece\u2019s immediate family with \u201cthe unexpected expenses.\u201d<\/p>\n
