President Trump on Thursday teased plans to take over Chicago, Illinois amid his ongoing federal takeover of Washington, DC.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The President and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker have been going back and forth over crime in Chicago as Trump threatens to send in National Guard troops.<\/p>\n

Pritzker has accused the President of attempting to \u201coccupy a U.S. city, punish its dissidents and score political points,\u201d calling the potential deployment \u201cunconstitutional,\u201d \u201cun-American,\u201d and \u201ca dangerous power grab.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Trump says Chicago residents are \u201cdesperate for me to STOP THE CRIME, something the Democrats aren\u2019t capable of doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernor Pritzker had 6 murders in Chicago this weekend. 20 people were shot,\u201d Trump said. \u201dSTAY TUNED!\u201d<\/p>\n

Per CBS<\/a>, 6 people were killed and 27 were injured in shootings over the weekend. The victims\u2019 age range reportedly 5 to 48 years old.<\/p>\n

President Trump\u2019s federalization of the DC Metropolitan Police force and deployment of the National Guard to ensure public safety in the notoriously high-crime capital began on August 11.<\/p>\n

Trump also deployed federal law enforcement agents across the capital on August 7.<\/p>\n

Even DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has acknowledged<\/a> the success of the initiative, citing the 87% decrease in carjackings and 15% drop in overall crime since Trump took over earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Now the President is taking aim at and considering deploying the National Guard in other cities like Baltimore, Chicago, New York, and San Francisco.<\/p>\n

As The Gateway Pundit reported<\/a>, President Trump told reporters on Friday,\u00a0\u201cI think Chicago will be our next, and then we\u2019ll help with New York.\u201d He added, \u201cNow, you look at what the Democrats have done to San Francisco. They\u2019ve destroyed it\u2026 We\u2019ll clean that one up, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
