As we reported earlier, French Prime Minister Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou has called a \u2018confidence vote\u2019 on the Parliament after becoming unable to approve his budget bill with his minortity government.<\/p>\n

Bayrou is widely expected to lose this vote, and the \u2018day after\u2019 for the French Republic is still uncertain.<\/p>\n

President of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella criticized what he called an \u2018institutional blockage\u2019.<\/p>\n

BFMTV<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe president of the National Rally Jordan Bardella called on Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, August 26 on TF1 to \u2018return to the ballot box (\u2026) either by dissolution or by resignation\u2019, deploring an \u2018institutional blockage\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou announced on Monday that he will seek a vote of confidence by the National Assembly on September 8. The National Rally had then indicated that far-right elected officials would not trust the Prime Minister. The leader of the RN deputies, Marine Le Pen, even considered that \u2018only dissolution will now allow the French to choose their destiny\u2019.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Will Macron resign?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The opposition parties, who hold the majority of seats in Parliament, have all stated that they will bring down the minority government in the September 8 vote.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, two-thirds of citizens surveyed also wanted President Emmanuel Macron to resign.<\/p>\n

Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella\u2019s rightwing National Rally (RN) has the most backing to lead the next government.<\/p>\n

On a different BFMTV<\/a> report (translated from the French):<\/p>\n

\u201cThe day after Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou\u2019s press conference, more than 7 out of 10 French people do not want the Prime Minister to obtain the vote of confidence that he proposed to the opposition the day before, as revealed by an Elabe poll conducted for BFMTV.<\/em><\/p>\n

72% of those polled do not want Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou\u2019s government to obtain a majority of support in the National Assembly. In detail, 45% of the French are \u201cnot at all\u201d in favour of the vote of confidence and 27% are \u201cnot really\u201d.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Le Pen and Bardella\u2019s RN is growing stronger by the day, while Macron is getting weaker.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cOn the other hand, 21% of those polled \u201csomewhat agree\u201d that Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou should obtain this vote, and 6% are \u201ccompletely\u201d. 1% of those questioned did not give any answers.<\/em><\/p>\n

[\u2026] Of those surveyed, 76% of those surveyed think that the draft budget for 2026 proposed by Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou is not effective in reducing public debt, and 82% of those surveyed think that efforts are not fairly distributed according to each person\u2019s abilities.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
