Australian women\u2019s rights activist Kirralie Smith was found guilty of \u201cvilifying\u201d transathletes by referring to them as men and is now facing up to $200K fine.<\/p>\n

Smith is a spokeswoman for Binary Australia<\/a> which is dedicated to protecting women and advocating for single-sex sports in Australia.<\/p>\n

Smith shared on X that a court in New South Wales declared she \u201cunlawfully vilified\u201d Justin \u201cRiley\u201d Dennis and Nicholas \u201cStephanie\u201d Blanch by raising public awareness of their inclusion in women\u2019s sports and noting injuries sustained by female players forced to compete against men.<\/p>\n

Demands made by Dennis and Blanch that may be imposed upon Smith and Binary Australia include: two payouts to the trans-identified men, at a maximum of $100,000 each, for \u201cdamages\u201d to their reputation; a further financial penalty requiring Smith and Binary to cover the men\u2019s court costs; a requirement that Smith and Binary issue a public apology; and the expectation that they \u201cdevelop a policy aimed at eliminating unlawful discrimination and transgender vilification in relation to any future public acts.\u201d<\/p>\n

The court\u2019s final decision, which will outline the extent of the punitive measures, is expected to be handed down in November.<\/p>\n

Reduxx<\/em> has reviewed both of the judgements, which were decided by Magistrate Sharon Freund on August 26. The AVO judgements center around comments that Smith made on social media which highlighted the fact that Dennis and Blanch, by playing on women\u2019s football teams, jeopardized the safety of female athletes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Smith shared details of injuries reported by two female soccer players on her Facebook in 2023, referencing Blanch and Dennis.<\/p>\n

Smith wrote, \u201cI have cried a lot today. Last night I was contacted by people in Sydney. It is alleged that two female soccer players were hospitalised over the weekend after being forced to play against a male appropriating womanhood. Trying to get hold of the video. Football Australia have received more than 2000 complaints about the men in teams such as Wingham FC and some Sydney first grade teams.\u201d<\/p>\n

A \u201ctrans inclusive\u201d football club in Australia has won a women\u2019s championship match, defeating a previously-undefeated women\u2019s team.<\/p>\n
