Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has insisted that committing a crime does not make you a criminal.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Netflix star Jonathan Van Ness, Crockett began by explaining that her entire left-wing worldview has been shaped by her time working in the criminal justice system.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just understanding what ends up having people become criminally impacted really informs so much of what I do legislatively, right?\u201d Crockett continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, when people are like, \u2018Oh, you know, crime is terrible.\u2019 And, yes, it is. Because when somebody goes out and commits a crime, they don\u2019t typically say, \u2018Well, I\u2019m a D, I\u2019m a R, I\u2019m a I.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not like, literally like, it\u2019s about, how do you fix it? How do you make communities safer?\u201d<\/p>\n

Crockett went on to argue that being a criminal is actually about one\u2019s \u201cmindset\u201d rather than any crimes they have committed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, so, I do want people to know that just because someone has committed a crime, it doesn\u2019t make them a criminal,\u201d she explained. \u201cThat is completely different.<\/p>\n

\u201dBeing a criminal is more so about your mindset. Committing a crime can come from a lot of different reasons,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

Over the past year, Crockett has become notorious for her vulgar language, shocking ignorance, and deliberately provocative remarks \u2014 especially when discussing President Trump or the wider conservative movement.<\/p>\n

During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Crockett downplayed the murder of Kayla Hamilton, a 20-year-old autistic woman who was raped and killed by an MS-13 gang member in 2022.<\/p>\n

After pledging to vote against legislation named in Hamilton\u2019s honor and designed to crack down on gang violence, Crockett accused Republicans of simply throwing a \u201crandom dead person\u2019s name on something.\u201d<\/p>\n
