A fascinating detail has come into focus that almost certainly explains the exact timing of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation from Congress and raises questions about her true motivations for quitting.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Cassandra Macdonald reported, MTG declared in a stunning Friday night announcement that she is resigning from Congress effective January 5, 2026.

MTG posted a nearly 11-minute video and a four-page signed resignation letter to X, confirming the end of her five-year tenure representing Georgia’s 14th District.

The dramatic exit comes after Greene repeatedly demanded the immediate public release of the Jeffrey Epstein client list and files, which led to her being scolded and unendorsed by President Donald Trump in a series of posts to Truth Social.

“I’m going back to the people I love, to live life to the fullest as I always have, and look forward to a new path ahead. I will be resigning from office with my last day being January 5, 2026,” she said.

Following the news of MTG’s announcement, several Capitol Hill reporters noted that she timed her announcement JUST IN TIME for her to receive her federal pension.

Was it really just all about the money?

Following the MTG news, one senior GOP source familiar notes: “Federal pension vests on 1/3/26 for what it’s worth.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is set to resign from the House on Jan. 5, 2026, just after passing five years in office. That makes her eligible for a congressional pension.

Hardly the point, but I will note that Marjorie Taylor Greene is resigning two days after her congressional pension vests.

— Matt Fuller (@MEPFuller) November 22, 2025

As The Daily Mail notes, MTG was elected in 2020 and began serving on January 3, 2021. This indeed puts her resignation just past the five-year service threshold required for federal lawmakers to qualify for lifetime pension benefits.

Many MAGA conservatives, including Laura Loomer, fumed upon learning about the date MTG chose and predicted she would cash in handsomely.

MTG decided to resign on January 5th, 2026.

Her federal pension kicks in on January 3, 2026.

It’s all about the money for her. Always has been. She’s doing this for the money. Expect to see her portfolio explode between now and January 2026.

Marjorie TRADER Greene.

The more you know …..

I couldn’t figure out why Marjorie Taylor Greene chose January 5, 2026 to resign. But y’all know me, I always dig because I’m a nerd.

That date just happens to be two days after her congressional pension vests for life..

Let me break this down… https://t.co/yLneOAntyQ

— DK (@1Nicdar) November 22, 2025

Marjorie TRADER Greene’s last day is 2 days after her lifetime “taxpayer funded” pension kicks in.

Insider trading exploded her portfolio from $700K to $25M!!

Thoughts? Are you glad she’s leaving or not? https://t.co/D5Irq6LQyM
