Let me be clear, Maduro is an illegitimate dictator, but launching military action without congressional authorization, without a credible plan, but what comes next, is reckless. Now, I was in the skiff on three different occasions, as recently as December, and I asked the administration, I said, I asked them, Is the\u2014 are you pursuing regime change? Are you intent on taking military action in Venezuela, Venezuelan territory?<\/p>\n<p>And they assured me that they were not pursuing those things. Clearly, they\u2019re not being straight with the American people. So, I\u2019ve been talking to so many members of my caucus today. Everybody is very, very just totally, totally, totally troubled, worried about how dangerous this is. Let me lay out just a few of the actions that have already been taken to hold the Trump administration accountable. First, leader Jeffries and I called on the Trump administration to brief the Gang of Eight immediately, followed shortly by a briefing for the entire Congress in the beginning of next week.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n\n<p>On Sunday, Schumer revealed during an appearance on ABC\u2019s This Week with George Stephanopoulos that he plans to introduce a War Powers Act resolution with Tim Kaine and Rand Paul to completely block the President from further action in Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We have the War Powers Act, that\u2019s a privileged resolution, which means the Republicans can\u2019t block it. Tim Kaine and I and Rand Paul are sponsors of it. It\u2019s going to come to the floor this week, and if it is voted for, if it\u2019s voted positively in both Houses, then the President can\u2019t do another thing in Venezuela without the OK of Congress.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n\n<p>As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio gave a thorough explanation of why Congressional approval is not necessary for the operation that was executed on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not an operation that requires congressional approval,\u201d Rubio told NBC\u2019s Kristen Welker. \u201cIn fact, this is an operation akin to what virtually every single president for the last 40 years has conducted.
