Six unhinged leftists barricaded themselves inside the office of San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria on Friday, demanding that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) be removed from the city and that local police cease any cooperation with federal immigration authorities.<\/h3>\n

The incident occurred at City Hall, where the group stormed the mayor\u2019s lobby, banging on doors and blocking the exits.<\/p>\n

Video footage shared by Rapid Report shows a blue-haired protester shouting demands at the mayor\u2019s staff through a glass partition.<\/p>\n

Six protesters who barricaded themselves inside the lobby area of San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria\u2019s office were removed by police Friday evening. The protesters demanded a meeting with the mayor, calling for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be removed from the San Diego community.<\/p>\n

The group has been occupying the space since 9 a.m. Friday, putting up their own sign calling the area \u201cThe People\u2019s Office.\u201d After spending the morning trying to secure a meeting with Gloria, the protesters began chanting and demonstrating in the afternoon when no meeting was granted.<\/p>\n

Around 2 p.m., the group barricaded the doors to the lobby area, which sits between the mayor\u2019s actual office and the building entrance, and issued their formal demands.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Mayor Gloria, a Democrat who has positioned San Diego as a sanctuary city, issued a strongly worded statement condemning the action.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis morning, a group of individuals arrived at my office demanding to meet with me and staged a sit-in. What transpired later went beyond peaceful protest,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese individuals chose to raid the front desk to my office, bang on the doors that intended to force entry, and then barricaded the doors, creating a public safety hazard. That conduct is unacceptable \u2013 full stop.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gloria added that his staff had already met with the group last week to discuss concerns about ICE activity and local law enforcement\u2019s role. He reiterated his administration\u2019s policy, \u201cIn my State of the City address last week, and through the executive order I signed in July, I made it clear that the San Diego Police Department does not participate in federal immigration enforcement. That policy is in writing, it is enforced, and it is exactly what these protesters are asking for.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mayor emphasized that such tactics won\u2019t be tolerated, even though he is sympathetic to their extremist views.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter how strongly someone feels, obstructing the public\u2019s business and intimidating City employees is not how change is made. I will not be coerced, and I will not tolerate behavior that puts hardworking City staff or the public at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is unclear if any of the extremists have been charged.<\/p>\n
