The U.S. Supreme Court does not reach unanimous decisions very often, especially when it has something to do with Trump, but it happened today.<\/p>\n

The nation\u2019s highest court just ruled in Trump\u2019s favor on immigration and immigration judges, saying that federal courts must defer to rulings by immigration judges. The decision makes it harder for people to abuse our asylum system.<\/p>\n

The opinion on this decision was even written by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, a liberal Biden appointee.<\/p>\n

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson authored the Supreme Court\u2019s unanimous ruling Wednesday ordering federal appeals courts to defer to immigration judges when reviewing asylum decisions, bolstering the executive branch\u2019s authority in immigration cases and handing the Trump administration a win as it pushes an aggressive deportation agenda.<\/p>\n

Jackson, a Biden appointee and one of three liberal justices on the high court, wrote that immigration laws require federal courts to use a \u201csubstantial-evidence standard\u201d when reviewing immigration judges\u2019 decisions about whether an asylum seeker could face \u201cpersecution\u201d if deported. <\/p>\n

Jackson emphasized the high bar courts must meet before overturning an immigration judge\u2019s findings, potentially making it more difficult for migrants to challenge their deportations as the Trump administration cracks down on illegal immigration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe agency\u2019s determination\u2026 is generally \u2018conclusive unless any reasonable adjudicator would be compelled to conclude to the contrary,\u2019\u201d Jackson wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
