A veteran Oregon law enforcement officer has been forced out of his job simply for privately saying, \u201cF-ck the Somali and Latino community. I\u2019m about the American communities! I\u2019m about America!\u201d while on duty.<\/h3>\n

Eugene Police Department Officer Martin Siller resigned effective immediately after bodycam footage from January 30 went viral online over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The video captured Siller, while responding to protests and riots outside the old federal building in Eugene, making the blunt remarks during a phone call.<\/p>\n

Siller also expressed strong support for ICE, said he doesn\u2019t give \u201ca sh-t about illegal aliens,\u201d and mocked the leftist protesters for not having jobs.<\/p>\n

Eugene Police Chief Chris Skinner publicly identified Siller after the footage went viral and condemned the remarks as \u201cracist and deeply offensive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Skinner claimed that Siller resigned on his own shortly after the video surfaced online, before the department could even begin a full internal review.<\/p>\n

The chief also said that the officer quit because the department is so anti-racist.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things that I was heartened by is the fact that he self-selected out so quickly,\u201d Skinner said during a press conference.<\/p>\n

Skinner continued, \u201cBecause if this is a department that fostered racism, and protected people that think the way that Martin Siller thinks, then he would have felt protected in this organization, and he doesn\u2019t feel protected in this organization because he got out of here as quickly as he could, because he knew what the inevitable would happen to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The chief has since released additional bodycam clips from the same day and confirmed an independent investigation is ongoing into whether anyone else was aware of or involved in the conversation.<\/p>\n\n

Siller had served seven years with the Eugene Police Department after a 20-year career with the West Valley City Police Department in Utah.<\/p>\n

A separate officer connected to the phone call, reportedly from Grantsville, Utah, is now under internal investigation by his own department.<\/p>\n
