Kempczinski said in a recent speech that the company is having trouble convincing McDonald\u2019s employees to return to their corporate headquarters because of fears of rising violent crime.<\/p>\n
Chicago, like all liberal run cities with their defund the police mindset, is facing a rising crime wave.<\/a><\/p>\n Corporations like the Hedge Fund Citade<\/a>l, Boeing<\/a> and Caterpillar<\/a>\u00a0have already fled the city. Kempczinski, however, said McDonald\u2019s has no plans to leave.<\/p>\n Last year, Kempczinski was in hot water with the woke-police for a text message he sent to Lightfoot shedding light on growing concerns over crime.<\/p>\n The New York Post reported<\/a> Kempczinski \u00a0was \u201d under fire over a text message he sent to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot about shootings in the city\u00a0that critics\u00a0say was \u2018racist\u2019 and \u2018ignorant.\u2019\u00a0Protesters say the message \u2014 sent on April 19 but revealed Tuesday \u2014 appeared to blame parents who \u2018failed\u2019 their children.<\/p>\n \u201cp.s. tragic shootings in last week, both at our restaurant yesterday and with Adam Toldeo [sic]. With both, the parents failed those kids which I know is something you can\u2019t say. Even harder to fix,\u201d he said, according to WBEZ Chicago<\/a>, which obtained the text through a Freedom of Information Act request.\u201d<\/p>\n Fox Business reports:<\/a><\/p>\n The CEO of McDonald\u2019s<\/a> told business leaders in Chicago that tough economic conditions including rising crime have made it more difficult to attract employees and suggested the city does not have an adequate plan in place to address the issues and prevent companies like his from joining the growing list of companies that have fled the Windy City.<\/p>\n \u201cEverywhere I go, I\u2019m confronted by the same question,\u201d McDonald\u2019s President and CEO Chris Kempczinski said in a speech at the Economic Club of Chicago<\/a> luncheon on Wednesday. \u201c\u2018What\u2019s going on in Chicago?\u2019 There is a general sense out there that our city is in crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n Kempczinski said that it\u2019s necessary to \u201cface facts\u201d and acknowledge that companies have been leaving the area over the past year due in part to rising crime.<\/p>\n \u201cThe facts haven\u2019t been especially kind to the city of Chicago as of late,\u201d Kempczinski explained. \u201cThe fact is that there are fewer large companies headquartered in Chicago this year than last year.
