Todd Blanche joins CNN\u2019s State of the Union \u2013 October 25, 2026<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Attorney General Todd Blanche went off on CNN\u2019s Dana Bash during a fiery interview on Sunday after she attacked the Trump Administration\u2019s lawsuit in Alaska, claiming that Trump is planning another January 6 scenario to overturn the results of the 2026 elections.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The DOJ on Friday sued to block certification<\/a> of Alaska\u2019s Senate race if the Democrats\u2019 decoy, Daniel J. Sullivan, causes incumbent Senator Dan S. Sullivan to lose.<\/p>\n

Daniel J. Sullivan previously ran in the Senate primary<\/a> as a Republican and is now running in the general election as a no-party-affiliated candidate after receiving just 2.5% of the vote. He is being propped up to confuse voters into voting for the wrong Dan Sullivan, giving Democrat Mary Peltola a victory in the solid red state.<\/p>\n

\n

The lawsuit argues that \u201csome supporters of Senator Sullivan likely will inadvertently vote for Daniel J. Sullivan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo guard against this danger, it is vital that Defendants not certify any election<\/a> result that may be impacted by voter confusion,\u201d the filing says.<\/p>\n

The DOJ seeks to prevent certification of the results if \u201c(1) Senator Sullivan does not win the election; and (2) had all votes cast for Daniel J. Sullivan been cast instead for Senator Sullivan and Alaska\u2019s rank-choice process played out accordingly, Senator Sullivan would have won the election.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Blanche argued during an appearance on CNN\u2019s State of the Union that Alaska is \u201cviolating federal law and the Constitution by allowing confusion in the ballot\u201d by allowing Daniel J. Sullivan\u2019s dirty trick to proceed.<\/p>\n

Bash then ridiculously claimed that \u201cOne of the big questions is whether or not the president is laying the groundwork for a scenario where the \u2014 whether it\u2019s Alaska or somewhere else there is, in your words, a couple of days ago, a doomsday scenario, and we could be in a situation where President Trump tries to overturn the election, and the result of that could be, God forbid, what we saw after January 6.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blanche went off. \u201cOh, stop it. Oh, you got to stop it with that. You are not being a real person. Come on, man!\u201d he fired back as Bash cried, \u201cWhy are you yelling at me?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou set me up with the following question. Because the president, because the Department of Justice is concerned that there is an absolute fraud happening in Alaska, and he wants to do something about it \u2014 you\u2019re saying, Mr. Attorney General, because the President of the United States wants to stop a fraud and confusion in Alaska, is he going to do something crazy? That is not. That is not a real question.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bash continued to accuse Blanche of \u201claying the groundwork for the president to try to overturn an election that he doesn\u2019t like.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not laying any groundwork for the president to do that. So your premise, your question, is not true!\u201d Blanche said. \u201cYou have to listen to what I say, or it\u2019s not a fair conversation. What I said is the groundwork that we are laying is for Alaska, for the state of Alaska. If it becomes an issue after the election, we\u2019ll have the ability to determine whether there was confusion that violates the law in determining who the senator should be.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the law is broken, and that\u2019s for Alaska and the Alaskan court system to determine if the law is broken, then any state should not certify. I think we can all agree with that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Still, Bash continued pushing her January 6, 2027 narrative, despite acknowledging a legal pathway to challenging the results. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s an unfair question to ask that, given what we saw after the 2020 election,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlaskans are going to go to the ballots potentially confused, which is not something that\u2019s allowed to happen in this country,\u201d Blanche said before nuking Bash again over her obsession with January 6.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead of focusing on how we can address that and how we can remedy that, you\u2019re talking about January 6, okay? And that\u2019s so embarrassing to this network that that\u2019s what you\u2019re talking about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, come on,\u201d Bash interrupted, and Blanche continued, \u201cDon\u2019t \u2018Oh, come on,\u2019 me\u2026 There\u2019s literally confusion, and then you cite polls. I mean, this isn\u2019t a conversation about polls. It\u2019s not a conversation about January 6. This is a conversation about what\u2019s happening in Alaska right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
