Far-left California Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna is once again exposed as a serial fabricator after his team who accompanied him released video of the West Bank incident that flatly contradicts his dramatic claims of being “detained” by armed settlers and the IDF.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Khanna tried to sneak into a closed military zone in the West Bank for an anti-Israel photo-op without proper coordination.
The Israel Defense Forces have disputed Khanna’s characterization of the incident, stating that troops responded after receiving reports that Israeli civilians were blocking foreign visitors’ vehicles and that soldiers dispersed those civilians. The IDF has also said Khanna’s visit had not been coordinated with Israeli authorities.
He then ran to the cameras claiming violent settlers with American-made M4s and IDF soldiers detained him and other Americans, blocked their vehicle, laughed at them, and showed “arrogance of power.”
He demanded prosecutions and used the episode to push his usual America-last narrative against Israel
Now the video his own side released tells a different story. The footage simply does not support the narrative he sold to the media.
Nadav Weiman, Executive Director of Breaking the Silence, who accompanied Khanna that day, released the video on X, stating:
“The IDF is lying about the detention of Rep. Khanna. I was on the ground with him that day, and my body camera captured us being detained by both settlers and Israeli soldiers. The IDF did not disperse the violent settlers, as they claim. They explicitly sided with them.
As you can see in the video, the soldiers themselves blocked the road. I walked over to the soldiers and told them that the police had instructed them to remove the settlers, and that a Member of Congress was present. They refused to help. And there is more.”
In the video, the local security is heard saying they are waiting for police to arrive and tell them how to proceed.
There is no detention that can be seen matching the breathless claims Khanna has been peddling on national television. No dramatic holding at gunpoint. No clear evidence of the prolonged, threatening blockade he described.

In a separate video, Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna admits he went to the West Bank without coordinating with the Israeli Government. That admission tracks with what Israeli officials have said all along.
Israel’s ambassador to the United States stated Khanna ignored outreach from the embassy, declined to coordinate the trip the way members of Congress normally do. The IDF confirmed Khanna did not coordinate his visit with them either. He entered a restricted area and then acted shocked when local security and soldiers responded.
Khanna: “Even more offensive than Netanyahu’s responses—and knowing that I was detained, an American congressman—was the Israeli ambassador’s response on Face the Nation. He said, “How dare Ro Khanna go on a trip to the West Bank, Palestinian-led? He informed us he was going, but he didn’t take up our offer to meet and coordinate with the Israeli government,” as if that justifies being detained.
I did that on purpose. I’ve been to Israel multiple times. I wanted to see the West Bank through the lens of the Palestinians.”
